Death is in the air

So far this month I know of 2 people that have died. The first person is my friends little brother who is 22ish. He was walking down by Flyin J and got ran over by a truck driver. The truck driver didn't stop until they reached their destination in Tulsa, OK. They unloaded their truck and then called authorites to report they hit something back in Joplin but didn't know what it was. HMMMM. This is all kinds of messed up. First of all, the guy was walking 4 feet away from the road, this is around 9am, so it was daylight, and the truck driver didn't stop to see what they hit, they kept driving until TULSA?! They said the truck was full of drugs, that's why they waited to unload it to call it in, and the only reason they called it in was because it was on camera and they would have been found out anyway. How sad.... So many people are affected by this loss. I hope the truck driver gets what's comin to them!!

The second death is a guy my dad used to work with in KC. Apparently he killed himself. He had a family and everything and he was 47. My dad said it was the last person he'd ever expect to kill themselves.

Here are some suicide statistics:

Number of suicides in 2001: 30,622
88 people die from suicide each day in the U.S.
Suicide is the SECOND leading cause of death amoung college students

  1. Wow that is really sad about your friend's brother. I can't see anyone with kids killing themself but depression is very powerful and immobilizing. If you are suffering from it and your spouse doesn't understand and comes down on you instead of helping you through it, that could be a terrible push into doing something harmful to yourself. I liked this blog but it was quite short.

  2. Wow, that is horrible. I agree, he will get what's coming to him. The Flyin J is a crazy busy place and it is good that they caught the guy on camera. I too have had a emotionally crazy weekend. My husbands cousin was murdered by her soon to be ex-husband. He also killed two other people also before killing himself. All of these acts are so senseless. I'll never understand how people can think so little of human life!

  4. I was very shocked to hear about a truck driver hitting a person near Joplin and waiting until he got to Tulsa to report it. Something is very wrong with that. I feel very sad for the family of the young man that lost his life to an ignorant driver. My prayers are with you and them.
